Gecko Lipe Resort

The toilet is very basic but usable, and the houses are built from wood and bamboo. Each room is its own ensuite house, with a clean bed that's fine for two. I liked the shared open pantry around Gecko, where guests can sit or eat. The staff were helpful and friendly, and they even gave me a small discount on the room because I was short on cash. I had a wonderful stay at this eco-friendly resort in Koh Lipe.

My deluxe double room was good, and the bed was comfortable. There's one fan and no flush toilet, which was fine for me. They let me check in early at noon, and the staff were friendly. It's about 50 metres from Walking Street, but nights weren't too noisy and I could hear the sounds of nature. Watch out for mosquitoes and dogs.

The bamboo bungalows are tucked into nature, close to Walking Street but away from its noise. Trees kept things cool, and we didn't miss air conditioning. At night we could hear the animals and insects, then birds gently woke us in the morning. We stayed two nights, one in a deluxe bungalow with hot water and a proper water-flush toilet, and one in a basic bungalow with cold water and a toilet you flush by pouring water yourself. We actually liked the basic one more. The staff were super friendly. A lovely experience if you want to be close to nature on Ko Lipe, as long as you aren't expecting a luxury resort.

It's very clean here, and the little wooden porch was a peaceful spot to enjoy the quiet. The mosquito net worked well, and staff left a mosquito coil each evening. The huts are adorable and sit among huge trees, just off the busy walking street, with Pattaya beach only minutes away. They gave me a refillable water bottle when I arrived, and there's free water, tea and coffee. The staff were super helpful. A real find if you're travelling on a budget or want to get away from the rat race in an idyllic setting.
