Sang Chan Hostel

There was only a fan, and air conditioning cost an extra 300 baht. The room was tiny, with a window facing an inside area, so there was no fresh air and the heat felt suffocating. The beds weren’t comfortable either, and I could feel the springs through the mattress. There was just a fitted sheet, no other bedding. The bathroom was very small and had only basic amenities. There was no minibar, so the free water bottles weren’t cold. The water was shut off from 9 pm until 6 am on our first night, which was inconvenient. At least there was coffee and some cookies in the lobby.

We stayed in a private room that felt nice for the price. It only had a ceiling fan, no air conditioning, but that was fine for a couple of nights. The host was so welcoming and helpful, always ready to answer questions and full of useful information. He booked our ferry tickets, too. Laundry was done quickly, and they provided drinking water, coffee, and biscuits. The place is right in the heart of the island. I’d recommend it.

The hostel felt really cozy, and the host was super kind and helpful. Laundry and ferry booking were great services. Our private double room had its own bathroom, which was nice, though the air conditioning didn’t work. We just had a fan, so it got really warm.

It’s an easy 5-8 minute walk from the ferry to the guesthouse. For a trip to Hat Yai, ask the owner instead of booking it yourself. They can tell you the best price, and it’s easy to get to Hat Yai airport, the station, or the city.
