The Noi Guesthouse Koh Lipe

The staff women were nice, but we couldn’t communicate, and the manager didn’t seem to listen to us either. Agoda also directed us back to the manager when we contacted them. We tried messaging the hotel on WhatsApp, but got no reply. We felt trapped, with nobody taking our complaint seriously. The pictures don’t look like the place, either. Please add realistic ones. We arrived for three nights and found hair in the bathroom, a broken bed, stained sheets, and a room that wasn’t clean. They offered another room, which was a little better but had the same problems. We were disappointed and wanted to cancel. The lady called the manager, who sent the potato back to Agoda. We could have put up with a bad smell and some lack of cleanliness, but this whole experience was a disaster.

We ended up staying five nights, adding a night at a time because we fell completely in love with Koh Lipe. The hotel was lovely, and its central but quiet location suited us perfectly. Our room had a slight damp smell, but daily housekeeping made a big difference and kept it pleasant and comfortable. A very recommendable stay and great value for couples.

The two young staff members were super friendly and helpful. Sometimes nobody was at the desk, so it’s worth asking for a WhatsApp contact. We accidentally booked one night too many, our mistake, but they kindly let us stay without prior agreement and pay in the morning. It was 1500baht, which seems standard for guesthouses on the Thai islands, about 3/4x mainland prices. We stayed in two rooms over a week, and both were very clean and better furnished and fitted than other guesthouses we’d tried in Thailand. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom tidy and, for us, odor-free, and there was a hot shower, which isn’t always a given. The location was slightly outside the town centre and a little quieter, with walking street only a 5/10 walk away. A few guests were noisy late at night, but that wasn’t the guesthouse’s fault. Soundproofing is poor in hotels and guesthouses across Thailand, so we expected something similar here. We heard no loud music, parties, or construction while we were there. I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews, but maybe some people expect too much for a low price on a Thai island. It was a great, quiet place to stay while diving for the week.

My sister and I checked in on December 12th and asked reception to inspect the room straight away. We found bedbugs in the first room, then even more in the replacement room, so we had to leave immediately and book somewhere else that same day. The owner refused our refund request and cited a supposed policy that no money could be returned after check-in. That explanation doesn’t add up, since we did get a refund for the third night but not the first two, despite checking in for all three. When we went back to make our case, we saw the room had already been rented to someone else, even though the owner had said a refund was impossible because they couldn’t accommodate another guest at short notice. That was a blatant lie. The place is unhygienic, dishonest, and poorly managed. There are many cleaner, better hotels nearby, so save yourself the stress and stay elsewhere.
