Tree House Hotel

The rates were very good, and the hotel is out on the edge of town among huge trees, with a pool and big, clean rooms. The rooms we had were a bit aged. The service was poor, though: they messed up the reservation and tried to make us leave a day early, even though we'd paid in advance.

This is motel service at best, and I won't stay again. I had to wake the night shift woman just to ask for ice, and she said she couldn't get any. I know it may sound petty, but opening the freezer and scooping ice into a small bucket is basic hotel service. You can't get simple room service whenever you need it here.

The trees and other plants around the pool are beautiful and give it shade, and even the wheelchair user in the room next to ours seemed to get around the complex just fine. You can get self-service coffee in the dining room, and the food and drinks are tasty and well priced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Across from the entrance there's a huge lake park and a lookout tower. The tower wasn't open when I visited, though I was told it has since opened, and I didn't go back. This is a great value spot for families or a romantic stay. The swimming pool is much needed in Thailand's heat. The resort has clearly been around a long time and has seen better days, with some rough patches in the wood and decking along the walkways and pool.

I stayed in a villa, so I can't say what the smaller rooms are like. The restaurant is simple, but the food and beer are good. There's a small pool in the garden, surrounded by trees and bushes. The parking area is big, and your car may be covered in leaves by morning, but that's no problem. I recommend this hotel.
