A.List Hotel

We found the staff kind, and some of them knew English. There was no deposit, they just printed my passport. At the lobby, guests could use the coffee machine, tea leaves, water and a snack, and there were bicycles to use too. The room was clean and spacious. It had two single beds pushed together, which didn’t bother me, plus a large bathtub, wide windows and a TV. They sell bath bombs at reception. There was also a microwave, fridge, plates, cups, hairdryer and other amenities. The bathroom was clean, with a water heater. There’s free coffee and tea, and breakfast can be sorted nearby. Samila and chatalat beach, 7E, Songkhla town, the museum, tangkuan hill and the night market are all around the area.

Breakfast is made to order. When checking in, you pick two dishes from a list, then you can have them in the dining room, in your room, or packed to take away. That was great. I’ve been to Somgkhla several times but this was my first stay here. The design and location are great, it’s clean and quiet, and the old town is an easy walk away. The large bed was comfy, and I loved the roomy toilet and shower with a bath. The floor numbering starts at B, then M, then 1, 2, 3 and so on, which confused me. I took my duffle bag to the 2nd floor thinking it was my room, not realizing it was actually the 4th floor. My mistake, lol, but all good!

The rooms are new and have a big screen smart TV, very good AC, and huge bathrooms with a rain shower and a very large bathtub. We asked for a king bed and it was listed that way, but it was really two singles pushed together under a topper, and it wasn’t very comfortable. A-List is a quirky place in a quiet part of town, within easy walking distance of all the sights to be scene. The black building and passive sensor on the front door make an impression. Inside, the hallways are dark and carpeted, with tables by each door for breakfast deliveries. The staff are polite but solemn. Breakfast is Ala Carte and has to be ordered the day before. It all felt a bit like reliving Covid.

The rooms are really nice and the staff are good, but the noise is a huge problem. You can hear cleaners and other guests talking in the hallway every day, and the walls are thin, so there’s no privacy. For this price, I expected to be able to nap in the afternoon without hearing everything outside.
