We stayed here in March 2017. The location is central, with plenty of good restaurants close enough to walk to, and you can rent a scooter on site, which I’d recommend. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the price was good for what you get.
The owner of Bo Yang Guesthouse was a genuinely nice man, and I really appreciated him. There’s no room service, but the rooms were neat and clean even though the building is a little old. For a Malaysia visa run, I think it’s the best and closest place to stay near the embassy.
Mudmee next door was an excellent restaurant. We paid USD 7 per night for our two-night stay in February 2018, which felt like good value. The room was clean, the hot water was good, and the A/C worked well. It’s fairly central too. Staff could have been more communicative and polite.
There are several places to eat and drink in the neighbourhood, including a few foreign bars and restaurants, and the rooms are spacious. The location makes it easy to walk to the weekend walking street market, Songkhla old town, Tang Kuan Hill, and Samila beach. The guesthouse is right in the center, just a short walk from tourist attractions.
Our room was in a separate house next to Bo Yang GH, with AC, wifi, and a hot shower. It was good value. It’s a little beyond the old town, but still a fine base for exploring Songkhla.
