Le Charme Sukhothai Historical Park Resort

The main drawback was the noise. Roosters started calling around 5 am, and guests checking out early added to it, so I couldn’t sleep. Getting to the park is also difficult without a bicycle or motorbike, and there are a lot of ugly dogs along the street. The on-site restaurant wasn’t tasty either. The hotel itself has a nice pool, green trees, and lily ponds. My room was spacious and clean, with a wardrobe, and breakfast was tasty with plenty of variety.

The gardens and ponds make the hotel feel calm and restful, and the staff were polite and welcoming. Breakfast had Thai dishes that changed every day, while the Western choices and desserts stayed the same. There were plenty of staff around the buffet, but it didn’t always seem to get checked or replenished, and used plates weren’t cleared quickly. Symbols for vegan and vegetarian dishes would be helpful. It would also be nice to have rental bicycles with back seats for guests who can’t ride on their own. The hotel’s bicycle rental costs a little more than rentals outside, and it isn’t free.

The breakfast buffet had a lot to choose from, though the food itself wasn’t especially flavorful. The pool was a welcome treat after a long, hot ride on a bike. For the price we paid, the rooms were lovely, and the gardens were especially peaceful and beautiful. The property is a little way outside the historic town, which may be why there’s so much space.

The sheets had synthetic fibers and felt very uncomfortable, and the room lighting was a bit dim. On the plus side, there’s a pool and a good breakfast selection. The hotel is well placed for visiting the Sukhothai Historical Park, which is easy to reach by tuk-tuk for 60 baht.
