Idyllic Concept Resort

The setting, pool and rooms were all comfortable and in good shape, and the resort still looked nice and almost new despite being more than 15 years old. We enjoyed the food, breakfast included, and had a really relaxing stay. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Nah, the manager, deserves a special mention: she was patient, friendly, and looked after guests with a real smile and genuine warmth. We liked her a lot, and she helped make the stay memorable. I'd gladly recommend the resort for a relaxing break.

The room was the main letdown: it was small, dim, and the bathroom got very hot, with poor ventilation and a bad smell from the drain. Mosquitoes outside meant we couldn't use the “balcony,” and a cockroach crawled on us during the night. The staff cleaned and sprayed the room, which we appreciated, but we still slept badly afterward. The food disappointed too, with bland Western-style starters and very few Thai dishes. There were plenty of useful extras, including four free bottles of water each day, free pick-up and drop-off, a one-hour kayak, and inexpensive snorkel rental. The bed was comfortable, the drinks were nice, and Mia at the bar was excellent. The island is beautiful, with a lovely beach and good snorkeling close by. Even so, we wouldn't stay here again. If you do, there are much better restaurants a 5-10 minute walk away. I'd avoid the garden rooms unless you can get one higher up.

What stood out most was the staff. Everyone was kind and attentive, always ready to help with questions, and that made the resort feel special. It's worth remembering this isn't an all-inclusive place, though the beach chairs and umbrellas, generous breakfast, and daily room service gave us that feeling. I'd happily come back, and felt it was worth every dollar. My husband and I spent five nights here on our honeymoon and were delighted. The resort was spotless and well maintained, with a beautiful beach and comfortable loungers and umbrellas. The restaurant and cafe offered lots of delicious choices. Our garden suite was just steps from the beach. It was small but had everything we needed and was clean. I worried at first that the outdoor shower wasn't separated from the bathroom by a sealed door, but we never saw any bugs. Room service came daily with fresh towels, drinking water for the washroom, and bottles of water for the day. Breakfast impressed me a lot. There was a wide range of Thai and Western food, new dishes to try each morning, fresh juices and plenty of fresh fruit. I've been to several all-inclusive resorts, and I thought this breakfast spread and setup were really good.

Breakfast was nice, but it was never really hot. Even at 6:30 on the morning we left, everything was lukewarm. The pool bar food, on the other hand, was piping hot, tasty and reasonably priced. It's only a short walk into town, with quite a few bars and restaurants along the way that are worth stopping at. Our room was huge and finished really well, and the bathroom was almost as big as the downstairs of our house back home. It was cleaned spotless every day, which was just as well since we brought sand in whenever we came back. The staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely resort right on the beach.
