Naraya Riverside Resort

We planned to spend six nights at Naraya Resort and ended up staying 33. That gives you an idea of how much we enjoyed our time on Koh Lanta. Craig and Mod have owned the place for almost half a year, and they bring plenty of heart, humor, passion, and authenticity to it. Craig greets guests himself, shows them around, and shares ideas for tours, restaurants, and beaches. He always seemed to have an answer and was available at any hour. Mod’s Thai background, warmth, and personality make her a great partner to Craig. With Hub and Max, they make a lovely team and took care of everything we needed. The bungalows have all been renovated. They’re spacious and cozy, with a relaxed, oasis-like feel and views of the garden, which turns golden from 5 p.m. The accommodation and facilities both felt above average for the price. Our bungalow had a huge king-size bed with a comfortable mattress for Thailand, a cupboard, safe, kettle, fridge, TV with more than 30 channels, and a well-planned bathroom by Thai standards. Beach towels and a beach bag were provided, along with an electric mosquito bat. The resort isn’t on the beach, and it sits beside a main road, which surprised us at first. We got used to it quickly. Klong Khong Beach is an easy five-minute walk away, with a nice range of laid-back beach bars and restaurants. There’s a 7/11 right across the road, good restaurants along the main street, and easy scooter access for exploring the island. You can hear some road noise, but the place still feels peaceful, and the price for the whole package is very fair. Room cleaning is available if you want it. They leave two glass bottles of water each day and light mosquito candles daily. Craig can arrange pier transfers, island tours, and trips back to Phuket without any trouble, at a fair rate. Narraya serves breakfast all day until 5 p.m., including a classic English breakfast and good coffee, plus snacks like spring rolls and ice cream. If we return to Koh Lanta, we’ll stay with Craig and Mod at Narraya Resort. We wish them all the best for the future.
