The Leaf on the Sands

The staff were exceptional, always greeting us with a smile and happy to help. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and plentiful, and our large, comfortable room looked out over the lovely gardens. The grounds were beautiful too, full of birdsong and wildlife. There are two clean, lovely pools, though as beach people we only used them twice. We’ve just returned from two glorious weeks at the Leaf. It’s perfectly placed at the edge of town, set back from the road, and for us the hotel was perfection. Changes are coming to bring it in line with the Sands. I’m sorry to hear it will get bigger and have more facilities, because then it may no longer be somewhere we’d choose. The staff are being retained and the location is perfect, though, so it should be a good choice for families.

We had an amazing holiday at The Leaf, and the room was big, spotless and had all the essentials, including beach towels. The staff were polite, helpful and made the place feel like a second home. We ate very well at the main restaurant, with tasty food and good breakfast options. The pool bar also had delicious snacks and good cocktails. The water in the pools was crystal clear, and the team kept the gardens and poolside clean all the time. We spotted lizards and geckos around, but they’re harmless and very cute. A great experience and a great place to stay in Khao Lak.

The rooms were peaceful and quiet, with views of the natural garden, and you can choose between two swimming pools on different sides. Staff were lovely and the service was excellent. Breakfast was included at a reasonable price, and I really liked the wide variety. Finding accommodation in Khao Lak during high season was difficult and expensive, so I was glad we found this place. I was impressed and will definitely return.

For anyone else who’s into fitness, here’s the gym detail I couldn’t find beforehand: there’s a multi-machine and dumbbells up to 30lbs/13,5kg. That’s enough for a solid upper-body workout, I promise. The machine offers plenty of different exercises and surprisingly enough resistance. It’s also the best air-conditioned room. And yes, I agree with the other positive reviews. This place is quite nice indeed.
