Sleepyhead Hostel

We were much happier here than at the Bangkok hostel we’d stayed in before. The couple running the place were welcoming and always had useful area tips, and they never made us feel awkward for asking questions. They even offered to join us for food and day trips. It had only recently opened, but they were already doing a great job. The location was ideal, close to Kosan road but far enough away for a decent night’s sleep without drunken noise. A couple of small things could’ve been better. The toilets weren’t always looked after, there was spit on the mirror, and toilet paper was often missing. My bed curtain also left a gap by the wall, so it didn’t feel very private. None of that took away from a really lovely stay. Thanks for having us ❤️

The calm, clean hostel is right by Khao San road and close to plenty of places to visit. Breakfast was tasty, with several choices. I spent two great weeks here on my first Bangkok trip, and Ploy & Golf made me feel at home with how kind and helpful they were. They brought a group of us out to see the Loi Kratchong festival, then took us for dinner and dessert at a local restaurant. Golf also gave me lots of sightseeing suggestions, which made getting around much easier. Saying goodbye was hard. Thanks for having me!

The hosts were the best part for us: they were genuinely caring and pointed us toward some great places to eat. We were three in one room, and the size worked well. Internet, coffee, a refrigerator, and toiletries were provided. It has a cosy, home-like feel, with a little village atmosphere on the street outside. Popular sights are within walking distance, handy when you want to come back for a quick rest. I’d love to return!

My father and I made some really good memories here, and next time I’m in Bangkok I’d like to have dinner with the hosts. The young couple running the guest house were funny and enjoyable to chat with, even more than Kaosan :D The male host likes Korean dramas and movies and can speak Korean. We booked a triple room for two nights. It was clean, with no insects, and the shared bathrooms were clean too. They had slippers for the toilets, plus body wash, shampoo, and toothpaste. The hostel is a little away from Khao San load, which kept things quieter, though we could hear some motorcycles at night from the alley. It wasn’t a big problem for us. I had to meet my father outside late one night and felt embarrassed when my phone wasn’t working properly. The female host let me use her phone to connect to my father’s usim card number, which I really appreciated. I’d read complaints that the beds were hard, but with my waist disc and a foot injury from before Bangkok, I actually found the firm mattress perfect for me.
