Bao was especially friendly and helpful, whether he was around the pool, on our bike ride, or joining the fire show. Pool staff also made sure we had water at the pool and on the beach. The hotel sits in a beautiful beach setting and felt very tranquil. Our rooms were lovely, clean, and well kept, and we got the sunset room we’d requested. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help. One small thing we meant to mention before leaving: the steps down to the beach restaurant need a little more lighting at night, as we struggled to see the top step. It was definitely a five-star experience and we’d return.

The location was perfect, right beside a beautiful beach and lagoon where we could use the paddle boards or kayak. A taxi to the town center market was quick and easy at 300 baht, and the resort also made a good base for a mountain adventure. Food was fresh and delicious, especially the breakfast buffet and Tuesday night's "Tastes of Thailand." We loved the couples spa treatment too, one of our all-time favorites. We stayed in the 'Pool Paradise' suite, which was stunning, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a beautiful private pool. The architecture and carefully kept grounds gave the resort a serene, almost dreamlike feel. From the pillow menu and welcome gifts to attentive concierge service over WhatsApp, the lovely staff made the stay feel personal and luxurious from start to finish. We hope to visit again. We spent six days here and enjoyed every minute. Our room faced the lagoon and had its own plunge pool, which felt like a real luxury. The setting is remote, around 90 minutes north of Phuket, on a beach and lagoon that felt like paradise. The staff were fantastic and always attentive. When I wanted to celebrate my husband’s birthday, they came up with a great idea. Meals were easy to enjoy at the resort, and the food was good. Of the two restaurants, one Thai and one Italian, we preferred the Thai for its variety and authenticity. One evening there was a fire show by the pool with dinner. The spa offered a wonderful range of treatments at affordable prices, especially compared with the US. There were very few Americans, mostly fun, outgoing Aussies and other interesting international travelers. To add some variety, we took two excursions: a 20-minute taxi ride to a beautiful waterfall in a park, and a two-hour drive to Khao Soh, a huge inland lake within an even larger national park, where we hired a boat to go around.

Khao Lak itself has a special feel, quiet, green, authentic, and relaxing. Devasom Khao Lak Beach Resort & Villas blends into that setting while still feeling luxurious. The Thai-inspired design is beautiful, and the infinity pool facing the Andaman Sea is especially memorable at sunset. The beachfront grill serves excellent fresh seafood and premium dishes in a lovely location. Breakfast is also a highlight, with quality ingredients and lovely presentation in a calm tropical setting. Service was warm, personal, and attentive to the small details. It seems suited to couples seeking a romantic break, and comfortable for families with toddlers and young children as well.
