Khao Lak Blue Lagoon Resort

The staff were fantastic throughout, from the cleaning team to reception and the restaurant. Mrs Vee, the manager, deserves a special mention for always being involved in what was happening around the resort. We mostly ate at the hotel restaurant, where the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good, but for a stay longer than a week I would have liked one or two more choices. The pool near the lobby was clean and pleasant, though I never used it because the ocean was only a few steps away. The resort is quiet, with private villas set among a lush garden. Even the smaller villas are spacious, well equipped and very clean. They're along a long path from the lobby, so the free bikes came in handy. We rented a car to explore the region, including Khao Lak and the Bang Niang night market. Those busy spots would be difficult to reach otherwise. If you don't want to drive, taxis to Khao Lak cost about 300-350 baht per ride, though traffic can be a little crazy. The resort also arranged our airport transfer shuttle, which worked perfectly. There's a small beach area with free sunbeds and umbrellas, and staff regularly clean it. The wider stretch of sandy beach was nearly empty. A couple of minutes from the resort there are two restaurants, massage places and a small shop for basics. For a peaceful stay with decent access to busier parts of Khao Lak, this is a great choice. We could really unwind here. The spacious, modern rooms or bungalows and the friendly, helpful staff made for a lovely stay. There's also a private seaside area where you can watch the sunset. I'd recommend this resort for a visit to Khoa Lak.

We asked for all our meals to be mild or not spicy, but we've never had food this hot in two weeks in Thailand. Only one of the six of us enjoyed their meal, so it was a bad experience for our group. The service and atmosphere were nice, though.

We spent four nights here and had a wonderful stay. It's set away from the tourist area, with a few restaurants and a minimarket nearby. The beach was uncrowded during our November visit, and only about 50m from the hotel restaurant. Our room worked perfectly for us, with a separate bedroom for our toddler, and the baby cot was already there when we arrived. The staff were very helpful, and the housekeeping was the best we've experienced. There are two high chairs in the restaurant, too. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere quieter.
