Le Coral Beach Resort and Cafe

I’ve stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. It’s a peaceful place close to the beach, with really lovely rooms. The garden and pool could use a refresh before long, but otherwise it’s a pleasant spot for a quiet stay. I’m quite particular about my morning cappuccino, and theirs surprised me in a good way. Just ask and they’ll make one fresh, and it’s very good.

The rooms are spacious and cleaned every day, and the staff are very polite. Breakfast was varied even though we only had it included: European and Thai dishes, soups, main courses, fruit, and desserts. The gym is a good place to spend the hottest part of the day. Kayaks are free to use, and bicycles are available too. The beach is broad and calm, with lovely sunsets that local people come to watch. The sea is really clean, and there are lots of ghost crabs on the sand. It’s reached by walking along a fairly quiet street. Shops and cafés are a bit farther away, and the complex itself is old and hasn’t been renovated for many years. There’s also a long pool if you’re afraid to go into the sea. The new bicycles were a letdown. The hotel bought three while we were there, and staff assembled them, but after only a couple of kilometers the rear wheel wobbled like a little snake, the chain came off when changing gears, and by the end the handlebars were starting to loosen.

The rooms were nice and comfortable, and everything besides one major problem was fine. But for a property presented as five-star, I expected much better standards and accountability. Food availability and the management response really affected our stay. On arrival we were told the kitchen was closed and nothing was available. The food we eventually got was very average. We had confirmed dinner hours in advance, yet arrived before the agreed time and were again told there was no food, with only apologies. It took nearly half an hour of arguing before staff agreed to arrange something from outside. Many guests that day were left hungry and confused, without clear guidance or a proper solution. The staff were polite and tried their best, but the manager couldn’t be reached in person or by phone to address the issue. That’s unacceptable at this level.

Le Coral Beach Resort and Café is a quiet, peaceful place, and we had a lovely, relaxing stay. There was a small issue with a facility in our room, but the team quickly offered alternatives and were very helpful. It’s quite far from Phuket and the main spots for activities and nightlife, so the resort might feel isolated if you want lots to do. For a calm break and time to unwind, it’s a great spot.
