Baan Pak Phutawan Resort

Okay.

Eh, it looks nice in the pictures and from outside, but the room is tiny. A bed and small table take up most of it, and the bed has to sit in the middle because the hut's design won't let it fit against the walls. I think a neighbor checked us in. They didn't understand English and showed us nothing. As far as we could tell, there were only two settings: light on with the AC blasting 18° cold air and no way to adjust it, or light off and AC off. The small room got unbearably hot, so we had to keep switching between freezing and boiling all night. 600 Baht feels a bit pricey for that.

The rooms were clean and the place felt peaceful, with plenty of easy parking. The owner is an older woman and was so warm and attentive. I asked about having somewhere to cook before we checked in, and she kindly arranged it. She also pointed us toward local sights and places to swim. It isn't right on the beach, but I'd happily stay again if I get the chance.

It felt less like a resort and more like visiting a relative in the countryside, in a good way. The owner was caring and kind, and the homestay has a lovely atmosphere among the shrimp ponds. The one frustrating part was the bridge construction: even though it was only about 400 meters away, we had to take a 14-kilometer detour and worried we'd manage to find the place. When we left, the owner came out to see us off like an older relative. So sweet, haha.
