Jungle Bay Resort

Really nice place. There were a few bugs, but it was okay overall.

I stumbled on Jungle Bay Resort a few years ago and liked it straight away. It’s set among well-kept jungle and feels quiet and laid-back, with old trees and even wild monkeys sometimes visiting. This is a simple, pretty place, better suited to a peaceful stay than to loud music, tall hotels, and lots of restaurants. You can arrange dinner ahead at the beach hut, or barbecue your own food, which works well for a small group getaway. There’s a nice pool, the staff are friendly, and the stay was relaxing and stress-free for a very affordable price.

It’s a tricky place to rate because there were good and bad points, and what you want from a stay matters. The setting matched the resort’s name, with separate cabin-style rooms opposite a beach that has its own restaurant and karaoke. We weren’t keen on the monkey kept in a cage. Our room felt dated, the fridge door wouldn’t shut properly, and the towels, bedding, and room weren’t especially clean. Maybe we just got unlucky with that room.

Such a friendly place, with a lovely atmosphere, almost like a jungle beside the sea. The service was great too. Thanks for finding us a room during the busy peak season 🙏
