Seashell Village Resort

This was my second visit, and I came to celebrate my 45th birthday. The room and bathroom were very clean, the bed was remarkably comfortable, and there was a good range of toiletries. We could enjoy the sea view from the room, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating from check-in. I had a great time relaxing and will come back on my next visit.

The beach was amazing, and the bed and pool were good too. The toilet, though, was absolutely awful, and the air smelled bad. The staff didn’t really know what to do about it. Breakfast was okay. The pool was really nice, though adding a few things could make it better. I’d recommend it to tourists, but if you’re from Thailand, I’d suggest another hotel.

The ocean setting is the highlight. You can hear water gently lapping beneath the room, which made waking up and falling asleep there feel special. We came by scooter from Rayong for our three-day Chanthaburi trip, after seeing good reviews and several YouTubers stay at Sea Shells, so we arrived with high expectations. The stay itself fell short. Room instructions were only in Thai, making some basic things hard to understand. Staff were polite but not very engaging. After our first day out, the room hadn’t been serviced. Instead, a basket with fresh towels, water, and toiletries was left outside. Booking.com hadn’t mentioned limited or no daily service, so this surprised us, though perhaps the Thai-only room information explained it. Come for the location and the experience of staying right by the sea, but don’t expect much service.

This is a very quiet place, fine for a few nights in the area. The layout is rather haphazard Thai style, with steps and ramps going up and down everywhere, so take care if you’re unsteady on your feet. The headland location has great views of the sea and estuary. Rooms are in decent shape, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The pool is lovely, about 12m long, with an infinity edge overlooking the beach. Service was good, the owner or manager spoke decent English, and the staff were pleasant. Dinner and breakfast were okay. Breakfast didn’t have a wide choice, and the menu is mostly Thai, which makes sense for a small local resort in this spot.
