Allamanda Laguna Phuket

The room was clean and nicely designed, and the surrounding area was beautiful and well maintained. There’s a nice pool and a laundry room downstairs. The condo is in the centre of Laguna Phuket, so everything Bang Tao has to offer is nearby. I arrived late in the evening when reception was unattended. That was fine because I messaged them on WhatsApp, and they left the key in a small safety box hanging on the room door. This is a good choice for a short visit, but cleaning and electricity fees are extra. You’ll pay at checkout, or they’ll be deducted from the cash deposit you have to leave at reception when it’s open or upon check-in.

The air-conditioning was horribly noisy, and unless you have a car, this place is far from everything. You could end up paying five times more to get around. At checkout, I was charged a large amount for electricity, and the total extras came to almost three times the rental price. This place feels like a rip-off. We paid almost the cost of two nights for cleaning, but nobody ever came during our stay. Don’t expect clean towels or fresh water either, you’re on your own. The place was a nightmare, the worst experience I’ve had in Thailand. Don’t be fooled by fake reviews from the owners or people they hired.

The pool was well maintained, and my room looked out over part of the golf course. I gave it two stars for those reasons, but the online photos are misleading. The spacious room was dated, with old furniture and only just acceptable bed comfort. The rating feels too high, and it’s poor value for money. I booked four nights and left after three. I found dirt under the table and couches, and the air-conditioning was noisy, so you have to choose between that and using the ceiling fan. Cleaning costs extra on arrival, but they only clean twice a week, which feels like a rip-off. Don’t expect fresh towels or water. Electricity is charged at the end of the stay too. I’d book across the road.
