Coconut Bungalow

The way the owner handled this was awful. She was rude, said what she wanted to say, then turned and walked away as soon as I tried to respond. I’ve been traveling for three months across five countries and have never dealt with this kind of rudeness. We booked one night through Booking. The owner messaged us there to ask us to confirm, and we replied through Agoda. Apparently she didn’t receive that confirmation on Booking, so she claimed we hadn’t answered and cancelled our reservation. She never sent another message to tell us it was cancelled. We arrived from the airport thinking we had a hotel, only to have to find somewhere at the last minute on New Year’s Eve, when another room was expensive. We also paid for a taxi to her place for nothing, then had to pay for a second taxi to a regular hotel. Disgusting.

When we were sitting there trying to find somewhere else that was still available, the lady came over and told us to cancel the booking. It seemed better for her if we cancelled it instead of her. When I asked why she hadn’t told us beforehand that it was cancelled, she was rude and walked away in the middle of the conversation. We’d booked a bungalow through Agoda and got a message asking us to confirm the stay. I replied that we confirmed, then took a taxi from the airport. Nobody was there. A guest helped us find phone numbers for two hotel staff members. They said they never got my confirmation, apparently because Agoda messaging had a problem, and had cancelled the booking. They had nowhere for us to stay. I don’t understand why they didn’t message us again, or cancel it through Agoda, so we’d know before arriving. It was a busy date and almost all the hotels were full. Worst experience so far, and we’ve been traveling for a while.

The room was in bad shape when we finally got in. There was mold on the ceiling, and it wasn’t clean. We politely asked about a small discount because of the condition, but the response was rude and dismissive. They told us to leave if we weren’t happy. We only stayed one night and put up with it, but the service and attitude left a terrible impression. Wouldn’t recommend. Getting into the room was a frustrating wait, too. We’d called the day before to ask about checking in an hour early, and were assured that would be fine, or that we could at least drop our bags. But there was no staff when we arrived. After calling again and waiting 15 minutes, someone showed up and said the room wouldn’t be ready until 4 PM, an hour past the official 3 PM check-in. We came back at 4 and still had to wait another 30 minutes.

There’s mostly forest and jungle nearby, with not much else around, though that’s exactly what some people are after. For us, it was the cheapest place around the airport, and a nice quiet retreat. The room was clean, and the guy who checked us in was super nice. I don’t think there’s a proper lobby, so getting help can be a little difficult.
