I see now why this "hotel" has that level of "stars". I booked and paid online for a double room through booking.com at 7 p.m. yesterday. When I got there after 10 p.m., the older woman at reception said she had no room because she’d forgotten to update the availability on booking.com. She offered me a shared room with nine people in it, which I refused because I needed proper rest. Then she offered to refund me in cash, which I guessed was to avoid problems with booking.com. I turned that down too, since I’d paid with my company bank card and wanted the money returned to the card. In the end I had to find another place to stay, and it was expensive :(

The dorm was mattresses on the floor, there was no hot water, and the woman running the place was miserable. I only stayed because I had no other option. I’d sleep anywhere else.

The room was spotless and came with a double bed, air conditioning, a fridge freezer, and a balcony. The hotel’s in a quiet spot that’s easy to find, with cafes, restaurants, and local shops all within walking distance. I really liked it.

We paid to stay there, we weren’t asking for a free room, but the owner treated us as if we were a nuisance in someone else’s home. She frowned every day and was very unfriendly to tourists. For an expensive hotel, the attitude and experience didn’t match the price. Going there can really spoil your trip, and I regretted it.

My dorm room had no AC, but the place looked clean and well cared for. It’s tucked away from the main street, so it’s quiet, while still being close to the airport and beach. Great for me.
