Before booking at Imperial Ocean Palms – Bang Tao, Phuket, consider the allegations described here. If you don't mind corruption, organized fraud, employing illegal construction workers, or child labor, you may want to book. If you do mind, read on. This establishment was partly financed by foreigners who intended to own an apartment on Phuket, use it themselves, or rent it through a property management company. Halfway through construction, the Developer refused to comply with the new minimum wage law, and local contractors wouldn't send workers to the site. With construction badly delayed, the Developer hired workers from Myanmar illegally, without prior building experience. Families with children lived and worked on site, and the children were involved in cutting and laying tiles for the lap pool and plunge pools. To avoid breaching contracts with existing purchasers, the Developer deliberately left the pre-sold units unfinished, completed the other rooms, and began renting them through its website and various booking sites. When investors realized what they viewed as a scam, they tried to enforce their contracts to get their apartments or money back. The Developer refused their requests and offered to reimburse only 15% of their investment. The case has since gone to the Thai Court. Meanwhile, the Developer is renting the rooms and keeping the revenue, while investors cannot stay in their own apartments unless they pay the same as other guests. It's your decision whether to stay at Imperial Ocean Palms. Phuket has plenty of other good places run by nice and honest people. This Thai Company doesn't deserve to survive. It doesn't even deserve 1 star.

The rooms constantly smell, the management is crappy, and there are barely any kitchen utensils. What they do provide feels like dollar store stuff. Cheap and bad, so stay away or you'll regret it. Honesty isn't their policy.
