Rimlay Bungalow

This is a chill little beachfront hotel with good food, a great location, and a price that feels fair. The staff are super nice, and the owner bau and his wife Em are fantastic. I've been back every year for the last four years. The bad reviews surprise me. If you're looking for a Marriott, go stay at the Marriott. Aloha 🤙

The lovely beach is the main draw, and there's even a 3x10m pool. Still, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. The hygiene felt poor: the tap water was yellow, the bathroom smelled, and walking barefoot was uncomfortable. There was also a cable hanging from the wall. The hotel is linked to a beach bar, and its music is meant to cover the beachfront, but the bass came straight into my room, which was about 5m away. It might be fine if you stay up until the bar closes and sleep late the next morning. Maybe 70 USD a night isn't much in high season for this standard, but it's ironic that I'm using the hotel's half-working Wi-Fi to complain publicly. I'm used to budget places when I travel without my family. Also, I booked a room at the hotel next door, Dang Sea, but they put me here instead.

This place has huge potential in a beautiful spot, so it's a shame it's in such bad shape. The room was ugly, dirty, dated, and smelly, with no service at all. At 1500-1800 per night, it was most certainly overpriced. Staff barely spoke Thai or English. Construction gear was left everywhere after hours, and nobody tidied up. We had to tiptoe around paint buckets and step ladders. It badly needs proper management and renovation. Stay away for now!

Sitting on the private terrace looking out at the beach was hard to beat, and the prices were very reasonable. In Room A1, we had uninterrupted views of the sea and beach, good AC, a large fridge, and a fabulous hot shower and bathroom. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful. They even brought our laundry to the room within hours. Possibly the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Phuket, and a must-stay.
