We enjoyed three nights at Mrs. Boonyaporn’s lovely guesthouse, which has a calm, artistic feel and is spotlessly clean. We booked a triple room for the extra space. It has a double loft bed reached by a spiral staircase, plus a single bed and sofa. The bathroom was well equipped, the shower was good, and the bed was comfortable. The air con was quiet, and there was a little bar fridge, an extra fan, a hair dryer, and complimentary bottled water each day. The rooms also have a covered sitting area with another sink. Mrs. Boonyaporn, also called Mrs Jew, happily made us one of several breakfast options whenever we got up. There were no strict breakfast hours while we were there, and we ate in her shady garden. Sandwiches, salads, and various vegetarian hot dishes are available for lunch and dinner too. If you feel creative, you can make your own bracelet or necklace from Mrs Jew’s large selection of beads. The property backs onto the Bang Phra river, with a wooden platform where you can sit and watch the sunset. There’s a 7-Eleven market just 120m away and a great Saturday night market down the road. I highly recommend this unique, special place. Don’t limit yourself to one night in Trat on the way to the islands. The town is worth a longer stay.

The host was incredibly sweet and kind, and very responsive. She helped us arrange a taxi for the next morning. The location is perfect if you’re spending one night before going to the pier. But Artist’s Place was a weird stay, and I wasn’t comfortable overall. There were spiders in the room, little ants on the yellow bed sheets, and the place itself felt strange. It was convenient and the host was lovely, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

We’ve stayed at artist place three times. The room and property look lovely, and the vibe is definitely their strong point. The garden is beautiful, with a water pond, and the restaurant looks nice too. The food is pretty good and prices are average. It’s on a calm street, five minutes from the market and two minutes from the little river walk. The walls are quite thin, though, and when we came the second time the place was fully booked, so it was a bit noisy. If there are just two of you considering the big room, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s nearly the same, except you have to climb a nice-looking but crappy ladder to get to your bed.

Everything worked well, the rooms were clean, and the shower, bed, and air con were all good. Most of the A/C units look new, which is nice. It’s an awesome little place. There’s a 7/11 just 30 metres away and a huge night market about 500 metres down the road, with food everywhere. Definitely recommend staying here.

The name really suits this guesthouse: it’s spotless, with beautiful, artistic decor. They also have a range of activities that let you experience local life in an authentic way.
