Tolani Resort Koh Kood

The resort has beautiful sea views and lots of comfortable spots to relax. We loved it and would come back if the prices are right. We stayed four nights and tried both the Hilltop Duplex Bungalow and one of the Villas below with seaview. The Hilltop Duplex Bungalow had a cozy, pleasant interior and felt clean, but there was little to no privacy on its small balcony. The Seaview Villa had a lovely private balcony, though inside it didn’t feel very clean and there were quite a few insects.

The staff were friendly and very nice to our two children. It was great being able to kayak, and the small pool was a good alternative when we wanted a break from the beach. The hotel is lovely and secluded, but the main beach is still easy to reach. Breakfast could use more variety. Around the pool, old towels and finished drinks could also be cleared away more often.

We hadn’t even stayed at the hotel, but the staff went out of their way to help us and reassure us about our taxi pickup. Such friendly people! Thank you to the receptionist who helped us. While we waited for the taxi, we got a glimpse of the laid-back resort. It looked very nice, with a beach bar playing chill music and a clean swimming pool. If we come back to Koh Kood, we’ll definitely stay here.

The room on the hill had a beautiful bay view and felt very private, but it needs maintenance. I also didn’t like having to cross the outdoor terrace in complete darkness to get inside, then use the hotel key card to switch on the lights. There are plenty of nice places to hang out around the grounds, including hammocks and double mattresses with cushions right by the water. The pool is clean and a good size. The “beach” isn’t really suitable for swimming, with so many rocks and bits of debris, and it feels a little dirty. The bar has great cocktails at good prices, especially during happy hour from 5 to 7. Its music was too loud, though, and could be heard from our room until late. The restaurant was great when it wasn’t busy, but once it was half full the staff seemed overwhelmed, the food was bad, and orders were wrong. I’d avoid going on fireshow nights, since that seems to bring in most of the people.
