Mukrada House

Quiet private rooms if you choose one facing away from the road, good breakfast, friendly staff, and lovely decor. This boutique hotel is a hidden gem in Krabi. If I ever gave up modern life to decorate and run a family bed and breakfast somewhere tropical, this is what I’d want it to be.

A wonderful stay in a great spot at Klong Muang beach. The rooms were beautiful and extremely comfortable, with the best sea view. The thoughtfulness of the staff and the place itself really made a difference.

The property was much prettier inside than we expected; the photos don’t do it justice. The nearby beach was fantastic, and the family-owned hotel staff were so warm and helpful. They went out of their way for us, arranging a taxi through a family member and contacting the pier to get us current information. There were no scooters available to rent while we were there, which was inconvenient, but they helped find one through another provider. Breakfast overall was unimpressive, though the made-to-order options were so, so good. I’d definitely recommend Mukrada House if you want a welcoming, family-oriented stay with great service. Just be ready to find some conveniences elsewhere, and keep in mind the price is different.

The beautiful beach across the street is the best thing about this hotel. The location is very isolated, so dinner out means calling a taxi. We spent about 300 baht each way on average, adding 600 baht a day to the cost. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, only a basic breakfast. A couple of snack shops across the street are open for lunch, but they close at sunset and don’t sell alcohol, so there’s no way to get a drink there to enjoy on the beach. The hotel also isn’t suited to older guests or people with mobility issues. There are 6-8 steps into the building with no handrails, and no handrail for the first flight of stairs to the first floor. There’s no lift. The “garden view” room looked onto the building behind the hotel. Our room was fairly small and poorly lit, with no closet or place to hang clothes, so we had to live out of our suitcase. For the same price, there are much better hotel options on the beach.
