The service was bad, and there are other hotels nearby in the same price range. That 4.4 rating is way overrated. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

We spent two nights at Calinton Hotel as a family and had an excellent experience. The breakfast menu feels like something from a five-star hotel: Kow Piek Sen, skewer pork sticky rice with Jaew Ma Len, plus toast, jams, butter and Pa Tong Ko to dip in coffee. Anyone who loves Laos food should stay here! The hotel was very clean, and the smiling service employees were happy to make us feel welcome. The hotel and its service reminded us of a Hilton, Marriott, or other five-star place in North America, with the experience of services of Thailand. That makes it uniquely attractive. Beautiful hotel, excellent location, and highly recommended for a business trip or, like us, a family vacation.

It’s a very new, comfortable hotel at an economical price, with a great location and plenty of parking. Housekeeping was very good, and service at the more than adequate breakfast came with a smile.
