Country View Resort

Good value, with a nice pool to unwind in and local restaurants within reach. The resort is friendly and sits in a fairly quiet neighborhood near the airport. You don’t really notice the airport. The place is dated, but clean.

There was nobody at reception when I arrived, and the place looked abandoned. After I called, it took them more than three hours to check me in. They said the room had been cleaned, but I found a lot of hair on the floor. The power sockets didn’t work properly, so charging my phone was difficult. A rat ran around on the roof and woke me at night. There was no shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, or toothbrush, and the towels didn’t dry me properly. The place badly needs maintenance and repairs.

My first impression of Country View Resort in Udon Thani was fine enough for one night, but the next day turned into a frightening ordeal. Around midday, a staff member, who I assumed was the owner or manager, started yelling and demanding that I move to a “cheaper room.” I did move my things, but she kept ranting. At 7:00 PM, after I returned from Udon Thani Rajabhat University, I politely asked that same person for the key to the new room. She screamed at me for about 20 minutes, insisting I already had it. She then went to the room, unlocked it, and found the key on the table inside. Instead of apologizing, she got even angrier and verbally abused me. I felt targeted because of my nationality, and her refusal to accept her mistake felt rooted in prejudice. I felt threatened and unsafe, so I left straight away. By 8:00 PM I had packed all my luggage, while she was still shouting and threatening to call the police on me, a paying guest. I’ve contacted Agoda to request a full refund for the remaining nights. The whole stay felt unprofessional, hostile, and overtly racist to me. The initial pleasantness seemed like a facade. I strongly advise other travelers, particularly people from Western countries, to exercise extreme caution and avoid booking at Country View Resort. I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel unsafe or disrespected there.

Affordable little bungalows, a pool, and a lovely caretaker. Recommended.
