Saithong Resort

This is my third visit, and I’ll come again. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The small bungalows each have their own parking space and separate shower and WC, and some also have a kitchen.

The privacy was a serious problem for me. Someone from the staff or management may discuss your other friends with guests or friends who come to visit you, and that caused a big problem for me. The resort is about 5/6 km from the city. The old rooms and bungalows sit around the pool, but there isn’t enough furniture. The bed is clean but shakes too much, the cabinet is very small and stinky, and sometimes a nasty gas smell comes from the toilet pipes at night. Some older bungalows are dirty and moldy. There’s no kettle, washing machine, restaurant, or emergency generator or lights. The pool hours are very restricted, linen isn’t always 100% cotton, and internet was a nightmare. I had to use my pocket modem 3G most of the time. It can also be noisy. Groups often talk late into the night, and about once a week nearby karaoke goes on all night. In cold season, rooms can get down to 13◦C, with no heaters. From march onward, children scream in the pool from 6.30/7 am until 6.30pm. Daily in April, the resort turns into a public waterpark. It’s impossible to sleep after 7am, trust me. And on the rare morning when the children don’t start early, the handyman promptly cuts the grass with a mower just outside your window.

It was raining when I arrived at night, so I couldn’t take any pictures. The place was pretty clean and had good ac.

It’s ok for the price, but be ready to pay extra if you want to swim. The pool isn’t included in the room price, and they don’t say that anywhere.
