House by The River Nan

We ended up here by chance after driving all day from Bangkok toward Nan province without a plan. House by the River Nan appeared on our map, so we stopped. It sits beside the Nan river at the end of a quiet road, with a pier extending over the water. Even though we arrived as walk-ins on a holiday, Kak and Tony welcomed us warmly. Our room had the comfortable queen bed and AC we needed, a clean bathroom and shower, and parking on the property. Kak cooked a delicious dinner, and we spent the evening listening to Tony’s stories and sharing a meal with strangers who felt like old friends. We highly recommend it.

I slept really well in the cozy room. The owners and their pets were very welcoming, and it’s a relaxed spot to stay while exploring the province.

We meant to stay just one night and wound up staying three. It’s a lovely quiet place by the river, and you can swim there too. Kak and Tony were great hosts, and Kak’s meals were very good. The clean, pleasant rooms come with toast, jam, and coffee in the morning; she also makes eggs for a small extra fee. The dogs and kitty Lucky were friendly, and they’ve just finished a lovely bungalow overlooking the river. There’s a beautiful temple next door, and across the river you can find Thai food and good coffee. Thanks for the hospitality, Kak and Tony. All the best from Andrea and Matej.

The nature here is beautiful, and I really liked the creative decorations around the bar. Tony and Cake were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Our room was clean and tidy, and Sumo is an adorable dog. It was a wonderful, relaxing place to stay and great value too. I’d recommend it to my friends and plan to come back.
