Veravian Resort

We stayed in a capsule room. It was pretty small, but had enough room for two people and included a bathroom.

The buildings are old and don't look like the photos, and the design and food weren't great. It was also really dirty, with bugs and insects everywhere, and the bed, towels and sheets hadn't been cleaned properly. The mountain road was VERY hard to drive up, and the view wasn't beautiful enough to make it worthwhile. I'm not coming back. It's not worth 4000 a night.

There's no manager around, which makes it seem like they know about the problems but don't want to face them. The resort is isolated, 65km from tourist attractions, and though it once had plenty of potential, it's now badly neglected. The many steps and stairs would be difficult for older people. At breakfast, the bain-marie food was cold, even though the appliances were plugged in, and there were no à la carte choices or egg station. The dining restaurant uses the same venue and had a one-page menu. Food could be raw or cold, and some items weren't available. Our pool villa had no shade, green algae on the pool walls and floor, and just two bean bags for seating. There were only two towels and no toilet amenities. The shower flooring by the outdoor pool was broken, insect screens on the doors were damaged, and the air conditioning wouldn't go below 25 degrees. With the pump room doors left open, we heard the motors all night. Raw sewage smells were strong throughout the resort. For the price, it's poor value, which is a shame.

As far as I know, this is the best hotel in the area. The two real highlights for me were the pool and the food. Breakfast was continental, and in Thailand the variety and tasty choices are definitely top notch compared with the USA. If you enjoy being surrounded by nature, the capsule is a compact option, though the bathrooms are shared. The individual double rooms are set up okay, but they haven't invested in water treatment. The faucets and other fixtures have worn down so much that everything looks old.
