Art Khamu Homestay

It's a simple, pleasant stop for people travelling along the Mekong. The owner, a woman from France, was very helpful and suggested things to do nearby. Just be aware that reaching the rooms means climbing about 40 steep steps, which could be hard for anyone with walking difficulties.

We felt at home with Warin, who welcomed us into her house. She took us to eat with local people, and later made us a lovely French breakfast with crêpes and freshly baked cake. She also helped arrange a Mekong River boat trip, which I'd recommend, and brought us to a local market that felt special. A cozy, basic place to stay where you're made to feel very welcome 😁

Warin was so warm and welcoming. We messaged her on Facebook and she got back to us quickly, happy to host us. The bamboo huts are about a year old and really comfortable. The bathroom is shared between the two huts and kept very neat, and the view across the Mekong to Laos makes the stay even nicer. She's added a small oven and cooks delicious homemade food, French dishes with a Thai twist. We even had fresh bread at breakfast. There's lots to do nearby, and Warin can take you or point you in the right direction if you'd rather go on your own. She also invited us to teach an English lesson at the village kindergarten, which was a lot of fun.

We planned to stay for just one night, but ended up spending four. Warin made us feel so comfortable and welcome, and she's got a heart of gold. The bungalows look out over the Mekong toward Laos, a lovely spot to relax in a hammock. Already looking forward to coming back!
