I came at a quiet time in late April and was the only guest at the resort. The owner let me check in early and check out late. She speaks fluent Chinese, Thai, and English, and was really hospitable and friendly. I was craving mala and asked if she knew any places still serving it. She gave me a few restaurants to try and said to message her if I couldn't find one, because she'd cook mala soup for dinner. 555555 😂 She also has a bakery and gave me a banana muffin and sweet Thai oranges during my stay.

Locally run and well maintained, Phu Mok, or mountain of fog, is not far from Pha Tung, the straight cliff. The rooms sit on the hillside, facing the scenic terrain of Chain Rai mountain. They serve good food and coffee here. Recommended.

The rooms are across the road on the mountain side, while the dining area is along the hillside. They aren't luxurious, but they are clean and felt safe. Food like shabu-shabu and BBQ is reasonably priced, breakfast is delicious, and there’s plenty of parking. Staff are very friendly. The atmosphere was fantastic, and everything from service and room condition to the food was great.
