Ratana Hotel Sakdidet, Phuket Town

Really good value, with a clean room, lovely staff, and a pool that catches plenty of sun. There are restaurants and a nice park nearby, and it’s a short taxi ride to old town and the peninsula. Also, a shout-out to the lovely woman selling pizzas about 50m south of the hotel. They were lovely when you fancy a break from Thai food.

I booked ten nights and really enjoyed the accommodation. It’s away from Phuket Island’s noisy areas, but just a short TukTuk or Taxi ride from Phuket Old Town. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, and after a day out exploring I’d come back to a wonderfully clean room. Great value for travellers watching their budget. Looking back on my five weeks on the island, the Seafood Tom Yum street side restaurant very close to the Hotel was the best I tasted. Eating there made me feel more like a local 😁

It’s cheap, and for the price you get a nice, clean hotel. The small pool is adequate, and they rent scooters, which is a plus. There are food stalls and a 7/11 very close by, though the location itself feels remote. Our front-facing room was beside a busy road, so it was very loud, and I could hear the traffic all day at the pool too. The restaurant was never open while we were there. They did provide some toiletries and coffee in the room. Fine for a few days.

I spent two weeks here in January 2023. The staff were kind and helpful, and the Wi-Fi was strong and steady. Rooms are spacious and kept in great shape, with daily cleaning if you want it. I slept well in a quiet room at the back. There’s a 10-12 m pool and a basic gym. The hotel is about a 7-minute drive from the old town, and you can rent a scooter there. I’d recommend it as an affordable option outside the old town.
