Hyatt Regency Dushanbe

For a business conference, the hotel had the things I expected, and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The internet, though, needs better coverage and speed to meet current business needs.

I had one of the worst nights of sleep I can remember. The hotel seems to treat clients like ATM machines instead of guests: when we were late and occupancy was at 20%, they called us seventeen times, each time quoting a price for the delay. I’d suggest the manager change how clients are addressed. Hyatt should seriously consider an exit strategy from this hotel.

The room upgrade was great, and the woman who checked me in was wonderful about arranging an early arrival. The rest of the stay needs a lot of work. I had booked a club room, only to learn on arrival that the Club lounge was closed. Instead, there was a bar offer from 1800-2000, where I could choose two items and have wine, but the pours were very weak and limited, and the menu had only two items plus dessert. Disappointing. I’ve traveled to 93 countries and stayed at Hyatt properties for my last two trips, but I don’t understand the hype. As a Marriott titanium member, I’ve received much better treatment at Marriott properties.

The hotel is quiet, which may suit people who like that kind of setting, but it’s far from grocery stores, malls, and other tourist spots. Staff are good and speak English, and service is good too. Breakfast is repetitive, though there is some variety. The indoor pool is good, with a depth of 1.2 to 156 cm, and the sauna is good and free.
