That first night in Djerba, I ended up at a traditional wedding, eating homemade couscous and dancing with strangers until morning. Between picking up tounsi slang, sharing home cooked meals, hearing about Djerban history and being shown hidden spots, there was so much to experience. I’m grateful for the people I met and for finding a place that felt like home, far from home. ❤️ The hostel and guest house sit right in the heart of Djerbahood, where the street walls feel like an open air art museum. The locals are warm and welcoming, and I felt safe and comfortable there. The owners and people of Djerbahood really do operate on another level, as other reviewers have said. From the main road, a taxi can take you to a beautiful beach or to Houmet Souk, Djerba’s larger city, full of art, culture, places to eat and drink, and things to do. In summer there are events, and cafes and restaurants often stay open late. Even at midnight, you can find something to eat, or stop for tea or coffee late at night. The hostel team wants guests to see the island from a local point of view, rather than from the mass tourism hotels along the coast. They put their hearts into helping guests feel comfortable and will find a solution if a problem comes up. I don't know if I can do justice to how magical this place is. You have to experience it for yourself.

Give yourself three or four days here, at least. This hostel and town are lovely, and they’re not somewhere to rush through. Wander the little streets, take in the art, smile at the locals, and let yourself settle into the town’s pace. Bring a journal, a camera, and an open mind. The breakfast here is so good. Mornings have those soft sounds of daily life, and the whole stay feels peaceful and grounding. It’s best when you take your time.

The owners are so kind and helpful, and they made me feel like a friend or part of the family. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the cosy rooms are great for getting some proper rest. It’s peaceful, safe and magical 💖 You can rent a scooter, work online, check out the sunset beach, visit a very old synagogue or go to the local market. See you again sometime 🥰🌞

Djerbahood has lovely street art, and this hostel is set in a beautifully renovated traditional Tunisian house in the suburb. The young Tunisian owners are friendly and look after their guests well. Everything is very organized, and the place is safe, clean and quiet.

Chames and Ghayth are great guys, with lots of useful ideas for things to do around Djerba. The hostel's in a lovely neighborhood, and the rooms are really comfortable and nice. A great place, I'd recommend it to everyone. We'll come back one day, inshallah. Thanks, and nharek tayeb.
