Le Hammamet Hotel & Spa

The garden is lovely, and the room was quiet and clean, though run-down. We had to search for pillows because none were on the bed. There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only free, unsecured access around reception and the pool. The pool itself is nice, but there aren’t enough deckchairs. Towels can be rented, but payment is cash only. After a stressful hour trying to sort out a booking.com problem, we had used our cash to pay for a taxi from the wrong location, so we couldn’t use the pool because they wouldn’t take a card. We’d been sent to the wrong place and charged the wrong amount by bookong.com. We explained how stressful it was, but the staff treated it as our problem and didn’t help, leaving us to contact booking.com ourselves. The location is average, not within easy walking distance of the medine, with only restaurants and small souvenir shops nearby.

The service was probably the best part, everyone was welcoming and wanted to make sure we had a good experience. Food choices were varied, everything was clean, and the spa really lived up to its name.

This doesn’t come close to a 4 star standard. The rooms feel outdated, there’s no tissue box, and glasses are left uncovered on the counters. Insulation is poor, the air conditioning blows straight onto the bed, and soundproofing is chaotic. Housekeeping was disappointing too, with no fresh sheets between days and no refill of hygiene products. There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the reception area where you have to go for it is barely air-conditioned. The pool is open only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and excursion staff are far too pushy. The security staff were rude and outright insulting. That’s only part of it. Avoid this hotel.

Ayman did his job perfectly and was very respectful. The place was clean and comfortable, and we had a great stay. Highly recommended.
