Lella Baya Hotel

Lellabaya Hotel and Resort is a lovely place, with attentive, courteous staff and plenty of varied food for different tastes. The constant hard selling from the gift shop and excursion vendors took away from the stay. They were so persistent that saying no bluntly felt necessary, and then they called you rude. “No” didn’t seem to count, and prices felt inflated, like £10 for a fridge magnet. Some sellers also seemed to confuse visitors about the exchange rate, using Tunisia’s closed currency, for example, 100 TND = £29.99. Also, all-inclusive doesn’t cover every alcoholic drink.

The animation team were great, but the location is the only real plus. The food was appalling, my dogs eat better, and staff had no manners or respect. Cleaners and other staff acted as if they were there under duress. I was so fed up I told them to buzz off, like the flies all over the resort. Please take the bad online reviews seriously and don’t waste your money here. The advert said Wi-Fi, but failed to mention it only works in the lobby, where I’m sitting now to use it.

We had a lovely event and a great time, despite the waiters being too relaxed and not going out of their way. The place is clean, but needs refurbishing. They don’t turn on the heating in November, and the room gets freezing at night. If you’re coming from the EU, the Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooms, so you’ll need a local eSIM.

The music by the pool was so loud in the evenings it felt like someone was in our room singing karaoke until 11 pm. There was no air conditioning, and internet only worked at reception. Drinks were very limited and hardly drinkable, and the food was disgusting. Staff ignored us when we tried to get service and seemed not to like English. This was the worst holiday I’ve ever had. We changed hotels halfway through because it was unbearable. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
