The buffet had lots to choose from, including vegetables, several meats, fish, two soups, a permanent stir-fry and teppanyaki station, and excellent pizza. The pastries were lovely too. My one disappointment was the fruit: it was only oranges at first, and after I asked they brought apples and pears. They don’t have bananas, and seem to stick to seasonal produce rather than importing it, which isn’t a bad thing. We’re a week into our two-week stay. We were kindly upgraded to a beautiful suite, and the whole place is spotless. Staff are friendly and attentive, remember our favourite drinks, and the bar men are the loveliest. On Christmas Eve we had a fabulous seven-course meal with live music, and I believe New Year’s Eve will be similar. The outdoor pool and sea are pretty cold, but the indoor pool is fabulous. The second week got much busier for New Year’s. The pizza guy makes pizzas to order, and the fresh sea bream and prawns are really good. The best coffee is at the spa bar. Someone is always cleaning the public areas. Some spots are a little worn, but everything stays spotless. I’m not sure I’d enjoy it as much in summer, when it might feel too chaotic. We loved our stay and would definitely return.

I was disappointed with this hotel after staying here with my family. We found two roaches in the room, had just two towels for three people, and the mattress was hard. The toilet barely flushed, and there wasn’t much choice at the buffet. The fish and sweets were the only things I found tasty. My mom and I were really frustrated by how poorly the hotel was put together. Staff were dismissive and didn’t seem to care about their work. I don’t recommend it.

The grounds and facilities felt lovely and very boutique, not like an overcrowded mass-tourism hotel. The guests were a mixed bunch, as anywhere, and there were lots of languages around. After a couple of days, though, you start recognizing people and it feels familiar. The shore was nice, though it could use a little more care. We stayed at the beginning of September and had an awesome time. There was always plenty of local food, though don’t expect a full British breakfast. Room service was good, and a small tip seemed to improve it. Some staff were fabulous, and tipping a little helped ensure we were looked after. We did occasionally find a living creature in the room, which might have been our fault for leaving the balcony doors open. Our first stay was very enjoyable, and we’ll be back.

The gardens and views are beautiful, the infinity pool is amazing, and some of the staff really try to take care of you. In almost every way it feels like a five-star hotel, until you reach the dining room. The food was awful, repetitive, and often cold. Liver was on the menu at least 10 days out of 14. The steak was inedible, and I couldn’t even bite into the lamb chops. Burgers at dinner were okay, but came without chips, bread buns, or anything to go with them.

This stay left us feeling misled. We expected the comfort and professionalism of a five-star hotel, but got delays, noise, poor service, and no transparency. The food was disappointing too, and the service overall fell well short of five-star standards. We waited over an hour for a room after arriving with a crying baby, which was exhausting and unacceptable. We also felt neglected when some guests seemed to get priority because of their Instagram presence. A loud outside event ran until 4 a.m., with music so loud our baby couldn’t sleep. Nobody mentioned the event when we booked, and we were put in a room right beside it. The hotel’s reputation doesn’t match what we experienced.
