Dar el Jeld Hôtel & Spa

We came to Dar Jeld with friends for a drink and ended up having a memorable evening. From the rooftop, the Medina of Tunis spreads out below in a beautiful panorama. At night it feels peaceful and atmospheric, with lovely lighting. The traditional architecture has been beautifully restored, and the elegant decor still feels warm. We enjoyed soaking up the spirit of old Tunis while relaxing together. It’s a lovely evening spot, and I’d gladly return. Recommended if you’re visiting Tunis.

The staff went out of their way to help, even walking with us to show us important nearby places when we needed things. We also had a very useful, fairly priced taxi guide arranged for a trip to the historic sites in Carthage, which saved us from trying our luck with local taxis at every stop. The hotel sits beautifully by the entrance to the Medina of Tunis. Our suite was spacious, lovely, and clean, and the whole place smelled sweet. We really enjoyed the local dishes at the restaurant, which introduced me to Tunisian cuisine. I’d absolutely come back.

Everyone we met was kind and caring, and the restaurants served delicious food with attentive service. They also showed concern for our safety, which helped make the city stay feel great all around. We had a lovely experience at this boutique hotel, including a beautiful room for the whole family.

The building is stunning and has the potential to be a truly special spa, but my visit felt rushed. I booked the hammam and massage package. The massage seemed shorter than the advertised 50 minutes, and the hammam scrub was brief, about 15 minutes. The service doesn’t yet feel up to the standards of a high-end European spa. Staff could use more training in professional hospitality and courtesy. It’s a shame, since the facility itself is beautiful. With better service, it could compete with top European establishments.
