Dar Marsa Cubes

The house is just 50 m from the beach, with beautiful interiors and striking architecture. The people are warm and made me feel at home. I recommend the Fatma Room, which is close to what I liked to call the nap area, shown in the photo below. I’ll be back.

Our room, "Jasmin," was clean and cozy, with a comfortable bed, effective AC for warm nights, and curtains that made it completely dark for a long, restful sleep. The shared living areas were clean too. Nathalie was the highlight. She was so kind and attentive to details, and the breakfasts were incredible, with something different each morning over our two-week stay. She remembered what we liked and adjusted portions to suit us. The location in La Marsa is fantastic, just 30 seconds from a lovely beach. The water was clean most of the time, and the beach was usually quiet except on weekends, a good time to explore elsewhere. We enjoyed the rooftop for sunbathing and the daytime view, as well as stargazing at night. There were some frustrating disruptions. On our last Friday, we came back from the beach to find several cars parked outside because the owner was hosting a party with a dozen people. Loud music went on all afternoon and ruined our plans for a nap. We hadn’t been told about the event, which felt disrespectful and unprofessional for the price of the stay. Earlier, on our fourth day, construction work unexpectedly took place in the common areas one afternoon. We wish we’d been given the date and time of these necessary repairs in advance. Some practical details need attention. The door handles throughout the house were noisy and difficult to use, and the trash cans could be quieter too. The shower pressure was poor, there was no hair dryer, and we would have appreciated a small fridge in the room for drinks and snacks. A hose by the entrance to rinse off beach sand would help, or clearer directions if one is already there. A coffee machine in the common areas would also be convenient. The WiFi speed was respectable for the region, but coverage around the house was really bad. A mesh network would help. We also strongly recommend providing a main entrance key or installing a keypad lock, since waiting in the scorching sun or waking someone late at night to get in isn’t ideal. The pool wasn’t working. The sea in La Marsa is wonderful, but it would have been great to swim privately at the house, and it’s a shame such a beautiful pool area in the garden isn’t maintained for guests. There are privacy issues as well. The rooms aren’t fully soundproof, and although we had a key to our bedroom, the bathroom and entrance closet were in a separate hallway that other guests could access. Most concerning, the bathroom door couldn’t be locked. We were initially given a key that didn’t work, and since we were the only guests for most of our stay, we didn’t follow up to get a working one. It’s a nice place to stay and close to the beach. My room is in the pictures below. The only downside was the breakfast, which was okay but too simple. Another drawback: the WiFi almost never works.

I stayed for 3 nights and already can’t wait to come back. The people, the food, and the grounds all make an amazing team.
