Mehari Hammamet Thalasso & SPA

The hotel is right on the beach and conveniently close to the marina and local attractions, so it was easy to enjoy the area. My room was clean and spacious, with a nice balcony and comfortable bed, and housekeeping did a great job every day. Everything was in good condition. Staff were professional, friendly and helpful from the start, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend Hotel Maheri Hammamet for the service, rooms and location, and would stay there again. Special thanks to the reception team and bartender.

The area around Mehari was well maintained, with the beach and marina nearby and a lovely medina for shopping. We also took a few day tours and saw other hotels, and for the price this seemed one of the better places to stay. It's not a fortune for an all-inclusive holiday, and the rooms are a bit dated, so set expectations accordingly and you can have a fab time. We loved our stay. It was clean and not very busy, so we always found sun loungers. There were plenty of food and drink choices. The food does repeat, but there was something for everyone, including great pizza at the pool bar, a pasta station, freshly cooked fish in the restaurant and breakfast crepes. Drinks kept coming, and the pool bartender never let you wait long to get another. Staff were polite and helpful, even before we'd had a chance to get cash for tips. Tipping helps, but you were served just as well on the first day. We'd read some negative reviews, but Tunisia went through COVID like the rest of the world and is still recovering. What stood out to me was how politely the hotel answered negative reviews, acknowledging them and saying they'd try to do better. Some nearby areas were run down and derelict, but our part was in good shape.

This was a family holiday, and one child in our group has special needs. For the first 24 hours after we arrived, the hotel couldn't provide plain steamed rice, so the child was left hungry. Another member of the family became ill after eating there. The place was unhygienic, the rooms were very dirty, and the corridors weren't clean. Our phones didn't work, there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and some light bulbs were out. Management didn't seem willing to listen. For a hotel calling itself five-star, that was awful. Stay away if you don't want your holiday ruined.

The hotel's location is excellent, but the food was a huge disappointment. Restaurant service felt poorly organized. Grilled meat was tough, most hot dishes arrived cold, and eggs were never ready at breakfast, leaving a long queue. There was no water at breakfast, the coffee was cheap and bad, and the menu barely changed from day to day. I'd rate the kitchen no more than 2/6. With better food, this could be a great place to stay. At the beach bar, beer costs extra, which is shameful for an all-inclusive hotel. There are no kettles in the rooms or coffee machines in public areas, so getting coffee in the morning means waiting until the restaurant opens at 7 a.m. or the main bar at 8 a.m. Very inconvenient. The public toilets were dirty and almost always had no towels or toilet paper. Room cleaning was very basic: fresh towels, toilet paper and bed made. Plates, mirrors and other surfaces stayed dirty, even when we tipped every day. Great location, but food standards were very poor.
