Hôtel Marhala

We arrived pretty late, but the staff welcomed us warmly and offered dinner. They were even happy to get the grill going in the middle of the night just for us. The service was amazing. It’s such a cool hotel, you’re literally sleeping in a cave. If you want an authentic, unusual stay, this is the place.

The people here made the biggest difference. From the start, the owner made us feel special and shared useful tips about the region. When my girlfriend became seriously ill from food poisoning the day before we arrived, he drove us to a nearby health centre, stayed with us, and offered to help us communicate, all with a smile. I’m truly grateful. Our stay in the caves felt authentic, with spacious rooms that took us back in time. The food, breakfast, and welcome were all great. The shared bathrooms were cleaned often throughout the day and didn’t feel shared.

We had breakfast and dinner there, and everything was great and delicious. The room was excellent, and the friendly people created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This was the best experience we had in all of Tunisia, and I definitely recommend the place.

The caves are lovely, and the person looking after the place is great. I’d recommend staying one or two nights. My stay was good overall and I had no other issues, but I had a bad experience with a local man who was allowed to drink at the bar. When I went to the shared washroom, he followed me and went into the next stall to watch me. I felt embarrassed and made a bit of a scene at reception. He was local and drunk. I don’t think the owner should allow locals to drink there when tourists are around, since alcohol can make boys act crazy.
