The beach and the setting on Djerba were the strongest parts of our 9-night stay. The beach was beautiful, clean, and looked after, and the island has lots to do and see. Reception was a mixed bag: most were friendly, some only did the minimum, but one gave us genuinely helpful tips on exchanging money and finding safe ATMs. Housekeeping were consistently lovely, quick, and pleasant, and the buffet changed every day with plenty of options, which helped on a longer trip. The rest of the hotel felt tired and badly in need of renovation, like being back in the 1970s. The AC apparently wasn't working anywhere in the hotel, so evenings were uncomfortable in the heat and with mosquitoes around. Having to pay for drinking water at a supposed 4-star resort also seemed ridiculous. Service in the restaurant and bar was among the worst I've come across. As two men, we were barely acknowledged over the whole stay, while women seemed to get prompt, friendly attention. At dinner we had to ask several times for water every night, and the same attitude carried over to the bar. The wine, whether red, white, or rosé, was undrinkable, and the animation team looked unhappy. The music playlists were repetitive and made the atmosphere worse. A couple of things to be aware of: the ATM across from the hotel seemed unsafe. After we took cash out, someone tried an unauthorized transaction on our card and we had to block it right away. Women should expect frequent harassment in public areas. And if you have Tunisian dinars left at the airport, use them before security, since you can't spend them afterward even though you're still in Tunisia. The location and beach carry this place, but the dated facilities, uneven service, weak management, and awful restaurant and bar experience don't add up to a real 4-star hotel. Djerba is worth seeing, but I wouldn't choose this hotel.

The animation crew kept the place lively with activities and shows through very long days. Their energy and commitment were great. The evening dance shows weren't professional level, but they were still fun because the team put so much into them. We were a group of 11, and this resort was the best value option for us, even though I usually stay in five-star places. The stay was excellent and better than I expected from a four-star resort. It was clean and well cared for, and the staff were consistently warm, attentive, and hardworking despite clearly long hours. Their service was one of the best parts. Meals were good, but I'd have liked more variety in the rotation, especially between beef, chicken, and fish. The pool bar was nice, though its drinks selection felt limited. Six of us booked hammam and massage treatments. There was only one therapist available that day, which was too much work for her and affected the service. Since I travel to Tunisia often, the treatment prices also seemed high compared with similar hotels. I'd happily come back and recommend Vincci Dar Midoun to other travelers. It offers a very positive stay, with kind staff and a lively atmosphere.

Hamza was especially lovely, going out of his way to leave a cute little hamper in my room, such a nice surprise. The staff were kind in general, and breakfast was really good with lots of vegetarian choices. We had a perfect short break here. It's a quiet spot, ideal if you're a couple wanting to get away from the noise, with a clean beach just a couple of metres away. It also felt safe to travel here on my own.

The reception experience was the last straw. Most of the receptionists were unhelpful and unfriendly even with basic requests, just saying no without checking anything. That's appalling service. The place feels worn out, especially the lobby carpets on the way to the rooms, which are a disgrace for a supposed 4-star hotel. Meals were dull and nearly the same every night. I had a turkey skewer at lunch that wasn't fully cooked. Entertainment was poor and loud from 9:30 to 11:30, and there weren't enough outdoor seats. Very disappointing. We won't return, and I hope others don't have the same experience. I'd avoid it. The positive reviews seem largely driven by entertainment staff badgering people.

The hotel itself is great in just about every way, but the gate security was the worst part for us. Usually one man checks cars before they enter. At 12:30 on April 18, though, a different man was at the gate. He seemed drunk or perhaps had personal problems, and shouted at us as if we'd done something wrong. When we asked what the issue was, he yelled that we had a problem and tried to start a fight, even though we stayed calm and kept asking what was wrong. The words he used were awful, and he acted like he owned the place, telling us to leave if we didn't like it. We'd booked and were staying there, so we couldn't understand what we'd done. I hope management addresses this kind of conduct. Gate staff are the hotel's first impression, and their behavior can affect whether people stay or leave.
