Amir Palace

The hotel is close to the sea and seems to have potential, but our four-night stay at Amir Palace Hotel, Monastir was a complete disaster. We felt that staff often acted as if they were doing us a favor instead of providing a paid service. I believe the management, staff training, and handling of large student groups need serious improvement, especially by the standards expected of a hotel operating in 2026. The restaurant was like a packed university cafeteria or refugee canteen. There were long lines, students cutting in, and no organization. The food was extremely poor and tasteless, so eating there became a daily nightmare. Guests also had to wear bracelets all the time, even while sleeping, which felt degrading and made us feel like animals rather than paying customers. Rest in our room was impossible because of nonstop noise. Students smoked, shouted, danced, and ran through the halls at all hours. Boys and girls were together without supervision, and no hotel staff seemed to be there to keep order. We later found out there were around 700 high school students staying at the property, which had led to chaos everywhere. Even checking in was unpleasant. The security staff at the entrance were rude and unwelcoming, and then we waited more than an hour for our room key. The hotel staff were kind and helpful, and our room was clean, spacious, and about average. We stayed one night with our small family. There were around 500 students at the hotel, and they were noisy in our hallway late at night. Food was hard to find that I could eat, and it wasn't tasty. The restaurant was crowded, with a very long queue. Cigarette smell was everywhere, including reception and the halls, which was really unpleasant. Wi-Fi also didn't work in most places, including the room and restaurant.

I wasn't satisfied with the accommodation at all. Basic things just didn't seem to get enough attention, and the service was an extreme disaster. The food made me vomit twice, and I doubt it was cooked properly. There was no real organization in the restaurant, either, in how the staff served customers or in many other details that upset me. If I could give a lower rating, especially for service, I would. Honestly, I don't recommend it.

The room was the one good part, it was spacious and had a sea view. But after two days my husband and I had had enough, and I couldn't stand staying there longer. There was no room service, and check-in took an hour even though nobody was ahead of us in the lobby. The first dinner was a mess. We queued about 15 minutes for each dish, and the chefs preparing food in front of everyone moved incredibly slowly, like they were 90. The food was blandly seasoned, though at least it was fresh. The cafeteria coffee cups were dirty, clearly unwashed, and smelled of fish. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as impatient as me.
