Hotel Borj Dhiafa

The spa massage was amazing, and I only wish I’d had time for another one. Mme Zinet and her colleagues were wonderful hosts. I was there for a few days for a meeting I was organizing with my local partner, and the hotel was a lovely place to stay: attractive decor, a spacious bedroom, a nice hall, and good restaurant food. The swimming pool looked beautiful, though I didn’t use it. I’d highly recommend this gem in Sfax.

I called with my husband to ask about booking pool access. They said it was adults-only, which would have been fine, but then told me I couldn’t come even as a couple with my own husband. Seriously, that makes no sense and was really disappointing.

We didn’t get around to the Aroma Spa, sauna, or hammam, but my son was very happy with the fitness area. Breakfast was a highlight too, with fresh pastries and ripe local fruit. The attentive service started as soon as we arrived: fresh lemonade was brought out, then a chilled bottle of water and a generous fruit platter reached our room just minutes after check-in. The staff stayed warm and professional throughout, just as the positive reviews I’d read had suggested. Borj Dhiafa combines the old Sfax borj look, with its stonework and mashrabiya latticework, and the comforts of a polished business hotel. It really earns its five-star rating. Hotel standards for service, upkeep, food, and attention to detail have unfortunately slipped at many places since 2010, but Borj Dhiafa is one of the rare exceptions.

The room was spacious, with a king-size bed that was really comfortable, and the amenities were well provided. Fresh fruit waiting when I arrived was a nice touch. I also liked the building’s impressive architecture and the breakfast selection of authentic dishes, which suited the place well. The staff were kind. I didn’t have time to try the spa, though it looked promising. It was a positive stay.
