Happy Days Sultan Beach

I’ve stayed here twice and liked the hotel and its location. The people waiting outside by the entrance were nice, too. My issue was with the security guard at the baggage check inside. He came across as harsh and wasn’t the kind of person I’d want to deal with.

We spent one night here with a tour group. The hotel sits in the hills above the Mediterranean, and the lobby has Carthage-style decor. Our room’s air conditioning wouldn’t heat above 21°C, so they brought us a heater. The indoor pool, sanatorium, and fitness center are in a separate building.

The website had no option for online payment, so we assumed, as at other hotels, that we could pay the next day. Our guest from Germany arrived at night, and we had no one available to look after him. But the hotel wouldn’t let him in. They also refused to help with online payment, accept a bank transfer, or even pass along a simple message to him. We had booked a room for this very special guest, and this was the worst hotel experience ever. I don’t recommend it.

The place is dirty, looks really old, and smells bad. I doubt the carpet has been changed in years, maybe more than five. I honestly didn’t like it at all. The only good part was the service: the staff were kind and helpful. The property itself needs a lot of improvement.
