Hotel Diar Abou Habibi

We had a great time at first. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, the Tunisian food delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely for relaxing and wandering around. My group of 12 was quiet and well behaved. Then another group of men arrived, bringing loud music at night and disturbing the peace. It felt like a wild circus, not a place for people to party like a club or dance bar. We called the front desk many times, but nobody did anything. I was disappointed with the hotel, the staff and the manager. They need to handle this better and treat guests equally. People who want to party and play loud music should do it outside the hotel area, or better, not be allowed in.

Cabin #1 is right by the pool, so you hear the activity there, and it’s also next to where staff start preparing breakfast trays around 6am. There are plenty of bungalows set farther from the pool in beautiful, peaceful spots. If you like a rooster crowing from 4 till 6:30 in the morning, Cabin #1 may be for you. It usually stays near the pool, under bungalow #1, for the full effect.

The only small downside for us was that the pool felt too small, especially on a summer visit. Still, the nights were peaceful, with a refreshing breeze from the oasis, and we had a restful stay. The rooms at Diar Abou Habibi felt magical, with comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, inviting living areas, and a mini-bar. Downstairs there was a cozy hammock and a charming spot for evening chats with friends and family. The location in the heart of the oasis near Chakwak made a good base, with downtown and Shara Lounge, Shara Zoo, and the Medina within easy reach. From my first phone call, the staff’s professionalism, passion and range of activities came through. They went out of their way to help us find a good pizza place and book a restaurant in the middle of the night, staying available beyond their working hours. Their warm smiles and willingness to help made the stay even better. I highly recommend Diar Abou Habibi and look forward to returning.

I never knew a tree house could be this comfortable. The rooms are perfect, and it was a great experience!
