Dar El Medina

The staff are what give this place its soul. Their warmth felt genuine, and they were attentive and present without making it feel like a performance. I would have rated the service 10 if the scale went that high. As an architect, I notice how light, shadow, proportions, textures, and small details affect how you feel in a space. Here, the rooms are calm and comfortable, and the whole place puts you at ease from the moment you arrive. The food was genuinely delicious, too. The staff at Dar El Medina made the biggest impression on me. When I lost my passport, they helped me search, contact the right people, and get everything ready for an emergency replacement. The breakfast waiters were attentive and always greeted me with big smiles. Everyone I met was warm and went out of their way to help. The breakfast was generous and delicious. It's served as a sit-down meal rather than a buffet, and it kept me going for the rest of the day. Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which isn't always a given in a historic building. This is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of Tunis's Old Medina. The spacious rooms have traditional charm, and the rooftop terrace overlooking the medina is stunning. If you're visiting Tunis, I'd definitely stay here.

At night it's very peaceful, even though you're right in the middle of the Medina. The rooms have plenty of character, and staff told us they were named after the wives of the man who built the house. Everyone was friendly, and the atmosphere was amazing. One of the best places to stay in Tunis.

We came for the restaurant, not the rooms, and really enjoyed the food. The couscous with vegetables and the chicken couscous were both tasty, as were the creamy spinach ravioli and crispy fries. The lemonade was freshly made, so expect a bitter taste. The rooftop seating area is lovely. You can't get there by car, so you'll need to walk a little.
