Dar Kenza Tunis

The rooftop terrace is a nice feature, and I went up to take photos of the lovely view. I’d only just arrived in Tunisia and didn’t know that taking pictures in the old town was apparently prohibited. The manager, who’d been lovely just five minutes earlier, questioned me four times about whether I was a journalist and asked me to prove I wasn’t. She looked through my social media, where I post travel pictures like many European tourists do. There were no signs saying photography wasn’t allowed, and afterward I asked three people from the Medina who couldn’t confirm what she’d said. It was a very odd incident that made me uncomfortable and quickly took away the warm welcome. The accommodation itself was lovely, the staff were nice, and the location was brilliant. At check-in they treated me well and showed me around. Unfortunately, the incident left an uncomfortable feeling during my stay.

The terrace was stunning and a lovely spot to relax after a day out. We also enjoyed the good breakfast, which had a nice variety. I stayed two nights at Dar Kenza with friends, and our spacious room had beautiful traditional touches that gave the stay a lot of charm. We were really pleased and would definitely return.

The host and owner was lovely and hospitable. The place is right in the middle of the meson, with shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions strategically close by.

The building has authentic Tunisian architecture, and staying here gave me a real sense of Tunisia. It’s right in the middle of the market, with plenty of places to eat nearby. The owner is super friendly and runs the place with her son. Breakfast was pretty amazing too.
