I came here for iftar, and the food was a big fail.

I canceled the reservation and walked out. It was a horrible experience from the start. I’d booked the deluxe room on Booking about four hours before arriving, but nobody was there when I showed up, and there was no answer at the number. Hours later I learned the host had just returned from the airport, and I could barely get a clear answer about when I’d be able to check in. When I finally got there, I was told the room wasn’t available, but that I could have a small room instead. The man there tried to charge me the deluxe-room price for it, and they couldn’t find the keys. It was a disorganized, unprofessional operation. Stay anywhere else in Sidi Bou Said.

The setting is peaceful and serene, and the terrace has breathtaking views of the sea. After a day exploring Sidi Bou Said, the intimate, elegant atmosphere makes it easy to relax and recharge. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, with striking views of the sea or the picturesque streets. Dar Essalem is a true gem, bringing traditional Tunisian architecture together with modern touches. Many thanks to the hosts for their hospitality and professionalism. I highly recommend this refined, peaceful guesthouse, close to Sidi Bou Said’s must-see attractions.

The owners are very kind and attentive to whatever their guests need. They even offer transport between the airport and Sidi Bou Said at any time. Dar Essallem lives up to its name. It’s completely tranquil, with elegant decor and a luxurious setting, and the views take in the legendary city of Sidi Bou Said, the sea, and Nador. I’d highly recommend it as a rejuvenating escape from everyday life. Don’t hesitate to stay and discover Sidi Bou Said from this enchanting haven.
